The Be Positive Tiny House

One of the latest arrivals at TE is the newest gooseneck, coming in at 32' long.  Handcrafted by Roughcut Tiny Homes in South Carolina, the new "Be Positive" (cottage) tiny house will be available for part-time rentals during the year.

Owner, Bonnie Upton will stay in the home part-time during her retirement and also spend part of her time traveling.  Bonnie has spent some of her life in a cabin in Bucks County, PA so she is already used to the size and she doesn't think going tiny will be very hard on her.  She believes in the less is more philosophy and is hoping for calm, peaceful and organized living amongst others with the same ideas.  She is hoping for regular visits with her neighbors and good conversations over wine and cheese in the future with them.

Bonnie, is a Warminster, PA native with a BS in Education from Penn State University.  She was teaching until 1977 and then was the spokesperson for the longest teachers' strike in PA history.  It was then that she left teaching and began pursuing other fields.  She became a teacher activist, a writer and editor for Hospital Information Systems (HIS) also responsible for training and installation of HIS, sold document imaging systems, worked as a financial advisor assistant and has owned several websites.

Always having an interest in real estate, Bonnie grew up doodling designs of homes and floor plans and as she was getting through school. She drew inspiration from the Vision tiny house, also located at TE and also built by Roughcut Tiny Homes.  She had the house built with intentions of staying in it part-time during retirement and also renting it out while she was out traveling the world.  She is planning long weekends in the New England states and Quebec and also plans on spending three months in Portugal next year.

If you are wondering about the name, Be Positive, well it comes from exactly what you were thinking,  it's Bonnie's blood type. Okay, maybe you weren't thinking that but it does indeed actually represent her blood type and also her philosophy in life, so it was no question for her what she was going to name her tiny Be Positive.

The inside is very simple and as you enter the front door you are in the middle of the house around the hallway area.  To your right, you can walk a few easy steps to a stand-up and walk around bedroom with a queen bed and storage area. Just off to the right is the bathroom that has a nice size walk-in shower, toilet, and corner pedestal sink. If you turn to the left you will be in the kitchen area, which was also made very simply, it reminds me of a cabin in the woods.  A butcher block counter, a small bright red Frigidaire refrigerator, and a propane cooktop. Cookware and flatware are stored underneath the countertop hidden behind the curtains.  Across from the counter is a breakfast bar area with stools that has a large window to gaze out of during meals.  Just beyond the kitchen is a small living space with a day bed that has a trundle bed underneath to maximize sleeping for guests.

This house is tucked up on a hill and has a nice view over part of the fishing pond and a few other tiny homes.  It's in a nice quiet area of TE where not too many travel.
