It’s our one-year anniversary!

A year ago, on April 9th, we opened our doors for tours and reservations.  It has been a great year and a valuable learning experience.  We've grown so much from where we began and expect to have an even better second year. We started out with just a few houses on the property and now have 32.  Much has certainly changed and keeps changing as we keep moving forward into the improvements of the land and company.

In just this past week, we were able to pave all the main roads throughout the property. What an improvement! If you stayed here, you probably know our property was a campground for a few decades, and now, we no longer have the sometimes-bumpy dirt roads that lead you to your tiny house.  The new paving will help control some of the dirt, dust, and mud which is a typical part of camping, but we would like to offer you something more.

Next, we will begin adding stone to all the sites in and around the houses, which will also help with dirt and mud when it rains.  We will be adding a privacy fence around parts of the property and also planting new trees as a border in addition to the fencing.  This should greatly improve the feeling of privacy when you stay with us and add to the beauty and nature of the property.  Whenever you have the opportunity to plant new trees it’s always a great thing! We have mentioned in an earlier blog post that we were in the beginning planning stages of the pool and designing the event center, however, those plans are still in the beginning phases and will be put in place a little later than originally hoped. It looks like 2020 will be an even bigger year for TE with a lot more comfort and amenities to provide for guests.

We've had some other exciting things happen in the past year, both professionally and personally.   Abby, our owner went from being engaged to get married to tying the official knot in December of 2018, and now is expecting her first baby in September of this year.  She and husband, Ryan anxiously await the arrival of their baby boy.

We hired several new employees this past year and keep growing.  One of our employees will be graduating from Elizabethtown College and moving back to Northern PA, and we wish her the best in her future endeavors.  Cody, our onsite manager has moved his tiny home to a new location on the property and has made some changes and improvements to the inside of his tiny home, and no longer has a wood shop in his tiny home. Neighbors here at TE love to visit Cody and bring him meals. He has been unofficially adopted by a few people in the neighborhood, and he is not complaining.

TE has had the privilege of hosting some wonderful and interesting people from all over.  Over the winter months, we open some houses for long term rentals for 30 days or more and have had several people take advantage of the 50% off winter deal.  Recently, we said goodbye to a New Jersey woman who rented over several winter months to work on her dissertation for her Ph.D. and was looking for a quiet and peaceful environment where she could also enjoy nature and the outdoors. She has a great story to tell and is going to help change the educational world.  In fact, we will be selling one of her wonderful children's books, here in our TE office and gift shop. Be sure to look for it soon!

April will be a big month for one of our guests who will finally be bringing her own tiny home to TE. She began coming to TE right after we opened, and she continued to come for seven days every month thereafter to stay in a different tiny home to do some extensive research so she could design her own tiny home to fit her needs. It's been a long journey for her, and her house is currently in the final stages.  We will feature both of the aforementioned ladies in future blogs, as they both have an interesting story to tell.

As I mentioned earlier, we currently have 32 homes onsite, and that includes a new house we are getting ready to open for rentals. This new rental will be available shortly and is from a new tiny house builder, who also happens to be located here in south central PA in Leola.  That will make two professional tiny house builders in Lancaster County. This tiny home will be sure to be a favorite among many and predict this house to start booking up very quickly when it becomes available.  Stay tuned for more information and pictures of the house and more information about the builder.  We will post all new information on our FaceBook page.

23 of those homes we have here on the property are overnight rentals, we still have a few "shells" that are unfinished on the property, the office, and we have 6 owners homes in place with the rest of them coming in the upcoming months.  We will be adding more great rental homes this year to offer you more options for stays.

All our new house announcements come via FaceBook, so if you're not following us there, be sure to look us up and like our page.  That is where you will find new announcements, new houses, and giveaways.  We also have an Instagram account that you can follow, it's "tiny_estates".  When searching us, make sure it has the underscore in the name and our logo is the key and says tiny estates.  There are other accounts that look similar, are using the tiny estate's name and have some of our houses, but it is not our account and is not related to us in any way.

It's been a great year, and we appreciate all of you who have been a positive part of our growth and development.  We are dedicated to bringing you the best possible tiny home experience and look forward to your continued support throughout the next year.

  1. I tried to visit on the 7th of April after my first tiny-rental in a motel, but Abby said it wasn't safe. I was bummed!
