The Houses: The Alfa
August 25, 2018

Alfa is an interesting little home. It’s tiny and quaint and is a unique experience. Covering only 140sq ft of living space, it has a very small footprint. It was built on a 17’ trailer but actually only has 12’ of length for living space. The walls were also built on the inside of the wheel wells of the tiny trailer, so the interior width isn’t as wide as a typical THOW.

Alfa was built by HGTV for a charity auction and was bid on and won by a gentleman who thought he would use it. However, it sat empty, unused and never slept in until it made its way from Tennessee to Tiny Estates.

You can stay in the Alfa, just like many of our other homes, but come prepared for a cozy stay. The Alpha has a bench for seating in the main living area with storage underneath. This is where extra dishes and supplies are kept. You can watch TV from the bench or from the queen loft that sits above the kitchen and the bathroom. The kitchen has a small refrigerator and a sink but doesn’t have a cook-top. There is an electric cook plate if you’d like to heat something up. The bathroom is small but fully functioning with a normal flushing toilet and stand up shower. If you don’t require much and you are not a professional chef, you might be quite comfortable in this humble home.

The name of the Alfa is also Jaime, pronounced (Hy-may). Jaime is a long-time friend of the Hobson family for more than 20 years and owns a landscaping company, JL Lawn and Landscaping. Jaime was key in the improvements and clean-up of the property at Tiny Estates. Jaime chose the name Alfa for the house because it represented a beginning here at TE.

The Eagle is a larger house that sits right next the Alfa, and we think the Alfa makes a great addition to the Eagle for larger families with teenagers looking for separate but close quarters for their kids to be close to them but still have their own space while staying here. We've had many couples enjoy the cozy quarters as well as travelers, and people coming in to town to work nearby.

So, whether you are looking for a unique experience in a 140sq ft home like the Alfa, or a more luxurious stay with 404sq ft and more amenities such as the Chairman, or anything in between, you can find it here. With such variety in homes and sizes, we have a house that will probably suit just about anyone interested in trying out a tiny house.
