The
Houses: The Horizon
September 23, 2018
The
Horizon sits on a quiet hill top overlooking TE property. Although, you may not
notice it at first when you come in as it’s tucked in within the trees, but if
you look up and to the right, you really couldn’t miss this stunning little
house.
The
Horizon was designed by Lynn, and she worked on it for many years before she
decided on her final plans for Liberation Tiny Homes in Lancaster to bring her
design to life. She has a custom 375 sq. ft 32’ long and 8.5’ wide design,
giving her a first-floor bedroom and loft for guests as wells as ample living
space. Lynn was gracious enough to share her personal photos of the interior of
her home.
Owning
her own traditional built home for about twelve years, Lynn decided that she no
longer wanted to live for her house and her belongings, but live her life for
her, and downsizing was going to allow her to live that life.
A local
woman per say, she graduated from Lower Dauphin High School and Messiah
College, but Lynn was originally from Wisconsin, a “cheese-head at heart” she
says. She lived all over the country and most recently, in Hershey, before
settling in here in Elizabethtown.
When we
asked Lynn how her life had changed since going tiny, she had this to say:
“I
hoped for peace, and I have found it. Tiny Estates sure is peaceful. I’ve been
living in my tiny house at Tiny Estates since mid-June and I have found that I
have time for myself now and time for the important things like family and
friends. The weekends are relaxing and fun, instead of filled with cleaning a
large house and loads of laundry. Instead I can relax and spend time with
people who matter to me.”
I can
imagine this is the life most are hoping to get from going tiny, she said it
quite well, and it’s amazing that she is living the life she set out to live
and seeing first-hand the benefits of downsizing. Lynn is hoping now that she’s
made this lifestyle change that she will travel the country more and make some
international trips including visits to Italy and Greece.
Lynn is
just one successful example of what going tiny to can do to change your quality
of life. More free time, no more cutting grass, shoveling snow (for us North
Easterners), cleaning a huge house, repairing roofs and furnaces. The list can
go on and on. Having the time to focus on yourself, your loved ones and those
who matter most in life, well, that’s what life is truly about. It’s a
different type of satisfaction you get when you free yourself from what’s
holding you down. It’s time to enjoy more of what life has to offer, like new
hobbies, traveling, volunteering, gardening or whatever brings your personal
joy. Lynn found new life on (in) the horizon, who knows what's waiting out
there for you.
The
Horizon is a private home and not available for rentals.
