The
Houses: The Eagle
August 9, 2018
Much like an Eagle soars above the trees and searches the
grounds below, our Eagle sits atop a hill looking down over two fishing ponds
and most of the other homes at Tiny Estates. Its perched above the road,
nestled in the trees, and over sees much of the property.
The name on this house is Eddie, and it serves as a small memorial
to a man who lost his life while serving us. In the early days of clean
up when the property was acquired, we hired Eagle Disposal, a local company out
of East Earl, PA to remove the trash and debris from our major clean efforts.
Eddie was a driver who worked for Eagle Disposal and would haul away
debris as we cleared the land. One day while Eddie was working and hauled
away a load from Tiny Estates, he suffered a sudden heart attack and passed
away. Naming the house, The Eagle and listing Eddie's name on the house
was just a small way we could memorialize and remember Eddie.
The Eagle may represent a sad end, but it also represents a
beginning. This was the very house, our owner, Abby Hobson built and
paved the way for Tiny Estates. Abby purchased the 24' aluminum frame and
began building her first tiny home on wheels. She had some assistance with
finishing from Liberation Tiny Homes in Leola, PA. When she was finished
she realized her issues had only just begun. She tried to put her THOW in
different locations, in different towns, boroughs and townships and quickly
found, she had a real problem, she wasn't allowed to have a THOW anywhere.
Abby wasn't going to settle for "No" and so she began
pioneering the way to achieve what is now today Tiny Estates, a 14-acre tiny
home resort and community.
You won't miss the Eagle when driving through the property, as
it sits high up on the right side, with bold South facing orange double glass
doors. It's a popular home as it's modeled after our modern style homes from
Liberation Tiny Homes. It features a king size bed in the loft and
full-size pullout sleeping sofa in the main living area, along with a full tub
in the bathroom as well as a fully functioning kitchen. Families and
couples love this house for its comfortable size and location. Right next
to the Eagle is a quaint community area with a cabana, large hot tub, propane
burning fire pit, outdoor couch, picnic table and outdoor games. You're just a
few steps from the fishing ponds and Adirondack chairs scattered about the
property.
The Eagle means a lot to us at Tiny Estates and certainly is an
important part of our history, and history is certainly what we're making here.
You can come and book a stay in our Eagle and participate in this
ground-breaking movement and be a part of our history.
